What we can't tell you · Not published
How much income tax is paid on dividends and savings income each year?
Not published The data is recorded, or could be produced from records, but no authority publishes it.
Why
HMRC's receipts tables report income tax as one line split only between PAYE and Self Assessment. Tax on dividends and savings income is collected inside those totals and is not separated in the monthly receipts. HMRC's income tax liabilities statistics estimate the tax due by income source, but liabilities are projections for the year from survey data, published two years after the year in question, and are not receipts.
What is known
What is not known
- Cash receipts of income tax on dividend income by year
- Cash receipts of income tax on savings interest by year
Who holds the data
- HM Revenue and Customs
Would a Freedom of Information request help?
Possibly. HMRC holds Self Assessment returns that record dividend and savings income; a request could ask for aggregate tax charged by source.
Privacy and disclosure restrictions
Aggregates only; individual taxpayer data is protected.
