Estimated international migration to each UK local authority minus emigration from it over the year to mid-year (ONS rebased back series MYEB3), per 1,000 usual residents of the same authority at that mid-year (same workbook).

All 361 UK local authorities, years to mid-2012 through mid-2024 (the span of the rebased back series; later years have no rebased population level yet).

What this calculation cannot tell you
- The denominator is the estimated population at the END of the year the flow covers (30 June), not the mid-interval average demographers use for a crude rate, so figures can differ slightly from any published crude rate.
- Both series are the ONS back series rebased to Census 2021 and deliberately differ from the estimates published for these years at the time.
- Rates are crude, not age-standardised - areas with different age structures are not directly comparable on this measure.
- The figure is signed - a negative rate means more people left for abroad than arrived - and a rate near zero can hide large flows in both directions; the in and out rates are published separately here.
